BASF to build battery materials production plant in Finland

The world’s largest chemical producer BASF has announced plans to construct a battery materials production plant in Harjavalta, Southwest Finland. It will be situated next to an existing nickel and cobalt refinery and begin production towards the end of 2020. The plant is being established to meet the increased demand for lithium-ion batteries from the electric vehicle industry.
